He was confronted by this stranger
neither man played by the book

When robin fell into the stream, the lady she did wail
And she criticised her friend for his unchivalrous assail
But our robin is a fox indeed, and by his clever scheme
The sour scotsman lost his balance
and fell forward in the stream

These enemies would meet again
in nottingham's fair grounds
Where they drew the bow
put on a show to huge, expectant crowds

hoped the three would stay

when she faced a similar trial

The three were reunited
when the plan did come to light
Whereby the gold taken from all around
would put a ship in flight
The golden arrow pierced the belly of the metal beast
And so all of merry england
can thank robin for its peace
